“Finding my personal style was ultimately a process of self-discovery.” – Ale Capetillo
Would you like to know more about Ale Capetillo?
Where does your relationship with fashion come from? And when did it find its place in your professional life? I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember, and I think my mum is to blame for that. I always knew I wanted to work in something related to fashion, but I imagined becoming a designer or working for a fashion brand. I never thought it would happen through content creation.
At the beginning, I created lifestyle content: sharing what I wore, beauty products and everyday moments. I loved fashion, but I hadn’t yet found my personal style. I moved to Spain when I was 21 and was still discovering what I liked and how I wanted to dress.
I always say that finding my own style was really a process of getting to know myself, and I shared that journey on Instagram. If you scroll far enough down my feed, you’ll find looks that I now see and think, “I can’t believe I was showing this online!” But I also find it beautiful. It’s part of the process.
There’s been a clear evolution in your style. How would you describe it? I’m much more versatile now and willing to take risks. I’ve already gone through the phase of identifying which pieces and proportions suit me best. Now I ask myself, “Ale, what else can we experiment with?”
I get a little frustrated when I fall into a formula. I feel like I’m in a phase that’s more about indulgences than investments. There will always be investment pieces in my wardrobe, but right now I’m also interested in those special finds: a unique piece or a colour that elevates a look.
I feel comfortable with minimalism, but always with a cool edge. I love Scandinavian style, although I wouldn’t define myself solely by that aesthetic. I like starting with a simple foundation and adding a touch of fun.
From the selection you’ve curated for the Styling Studio, what three key trends would you highlight for the new season? Tailoring, one hundred percent, but beyond the traditional trouser suit. In the selection we’ve put together, skirts take centre stage: pencil or mini, always paired with a blazer.
Prints are another key element because they offer so many possibilities. I don’t usually gravitate towards them, but I’m keen to experiment more.
And finally, romantic details. Ruffles, voluminous sleeves, gathered fabrics… I’ve been seeing them everywhere, particularly in brands like Chloé. They move away from my more minimalist side, which is exactly why I’m interested in incorporating them into my looks.
What piece of clothing or accessory do you think has the power to transform a look? Right now, I’d say heels or a handbag.
For me, heels are a fundamental piece of the outfit puzzle. They can make everything come together. With a great pair of statement heels or a special bag, the rest of the look needs very little else.
And what is your go-to trick for transforming a daytime look into something suitable for the evening? A blazer. During the day, you wear it over a T-shirt and then remove the T-shirt layer for the evening. Or simply change your shoes.
That’s probably the styling trick I use most in my own wardrobe: switching from flat sandals to heels.
When you visit Las Rozas Village, what guides your choice of a piece? The season’s trends? A wardrobe essential? It depends on what I’m looking for on each visit, but I always try to come with a specific goal in mind. Otherwise, I get lost among the incredible range of brands and opportunities I find in the boutiques.
Some days I come looking for basics or investment pieces. Other times, I’m after a treat, something more special or a look for an evening occasion.
What always happens, though, is that I find something. And I always come across great opportunities.
