Episode II: of fibre and wind

Episode II: of fibre and wind

The traditional art of textiles has become a powerful language, spoken through the wise hands of artisans who listen attentively to their weavings. This exhibition celebrates the craft as an act of living memory, where the ancestral and the contemporary are – literally – interwoven to voice a heritage that simultaneously looks to the past and future.

The artist

REGINA DEJIMÉNEZ

Madrid-born Regina Dejiménez holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, specialising in Sculpture and Textiles. She explores the boundaries between art, craft and design with her work through the creation of installations, sculptures and objects. She acknowledges: “I materialise sensations.” Her work dives into the development of textures, colours and shapes that connect us with sensory experiences, creating a unique dialogue between the aesthetic and the emotional.

For Las Rozas Village, Dejiménez invites us to enter ‘The Nest Salon’, an installation composed of sculptural elements, design objects and innovative textile pieces made using different techniques. Through her craft, the multidisciplinary artist transcends the boundaries of the conventional – materialising sensations that go beyond the tangible – and establishes her own particular link between craftsmanship, design and interior design.

ALETHEIA

Gavina Ligas and Ayoko Yokota are the two women responsible for the 100% handmade project, Aletheia. Their creative and production process works to a circular economy, in which no textile waste is generated. All leftover fabric is recycled to make unique finishes and other exclusive objects. Aware that there is no aesthetics without ethics, their collaboration with Las Rozas Village has resulted in a series of textile arches along the boulevards, in which they present us with a journey towards purity and sustainability, where each thread, each dye, breathes respect for tradition and the environment.

The arches’ striking colours are the result of a natural and sustainable dyeing process. They extract the dyes provided by nature, just as craftspeople did millions of years ago, but with a contemporary approach that improves the process and dispenses with the toxic metals traditionally used to fix the colour. Aletheia, the Greek for “truth”, not only creates, but also preserves and teaches, offering a space that integrates design, local manufacturing and the dissemination of crafts, with the commitment to generate a positive impact on both the present and the future.

SARA MORENO, FROM FRUTO SAMORE

Born in Burgos and based in Madrid, Sara Moreno has turned her passion for textile materials into a contemporary artistic proposal that awakens sensations and emotions. From Fruto Samore, her workshop specialising in tapestry, she has managed to turn macramé from a mere craft into a visual experience that explores the link between matter, space and the intimacy of the gestures that make it up.

At the Glasshouse in the Village, Sara Moreno presents her fascinating world of macramé, an art that goes beyond decoration. Her mastery of colour, rhythm and textile three-dimensionality turn this work into an architectural gesture and, in her hands, into a tangible emotion. Sara not only decorates, she intervenes. Her work dresses, excites and elevates spaces, turning them into unique sensorial experiences.
